Experimental Glass Painting
Bild-Werk Frauenau, 02/09/2017 - 09/09/2017
This course will explore free painting on glass in a range of techniques from brush strokes, laying on of tones, scraffito. We will use silver stain, black enamel paint and transparent enamel paints. Our tools will be special glass painters brushes, but we may get so free as to paint with almost anything we put our hands on. We will paint many types of glass, window, antique, flashed, and blown forms included.
The themes for our glass painting will include figures, narratives from old stories, or taken from our imagination.
Our journey will start on float glass, and then move onto coloured glass. The course is open to beginners to professionals, anybody who wants to enjoy a week of free painting on glass.

Free Painting on Glass
Penland School of Crafts, USA, Aug. 14-26, 2016
The course will teach expressive glass painting with black enamels, transparent colored enamels and silver stain. Mostly we will paint float glass, but may also paint blown forms. We will experiment with many mark making ways using brushes, scratching, drills, scraffito etc. Starting with samples, - and then focusing on some projects which I will create to stretch each student. This may involve architectural ideas if appropriate. Our class will be playful as we generate creativity and ideas. Expect to do a lot of drawing and painting, and to enjoy freedom with ideas and paints to create beauty which will touch every viewer.
